This trip was a return trip to Peru. Our first was in 1982, but was a very hurried extension to a main trip which took us to Brazil for the World Kendo Championships. In that first trip we landed in Lima late at night and a few hours later, caught the first flight to Cusco. The next day, we took a (slow) train to Agua Caliente, caught the bus up to Machu Picchu, toured the ruins for a few hours, and then got back on the bus back to the train to return to Cusco.
This time we were more relaxed -- more time to see Peru, a small group of friendly travelers, good guides, and good weather made for a very enjoyable trip.
